Portraits in Nature is a hand-crafted collection of realistic plush animals. Artists working in a socially responsible and environmentally responsible studio create each Hansa animal from portraits of the creature in its natural habitat.
The Hansa Story Artisan hand sew the animals "inside out", an old world tradition that results in the minimization of seams, and their bodies are carefully "sculpted" to create "musculature" and "features" like movement in a walking or sitting position that are unique to each creature. On average, there are 42 separate pieces required to make each animal, that must be combined by a team of truly creative artists to create the distinctly realistic features that characterize HANSA animals. (Some animals have as many as 240 different parts!) Each animal is individually hand sewn, to give it a unique "personality", there are more than 860 different fabrics and man-made furs from which the "coat" and "hides" are made, along with over 6000 sets of different eyes, whiskers, claws, noses, and related accessories allocated for creating these wonderful plush animals. Stuffing emphasizes careful attention to the placement of the highest quality man-made materials. When you hold these wonderfully "life-like" animals, you will see and feel HANSA's emphasis on quality, which is a result of careful attention to design, custom fabric selection, cutting, sewing, stuffing, eye placement, feature creation, framing, air brushing and finishing. Since each animal is hand sewn, there will be slight variations in appearance.

Adorable and lifelike
I ordered 2 of these grey squirrels to serve as a remembrance of the souls of own Earl and Pearl. They are beautifully captured, a perfect size and with sweet expressions. Fur is soft; bodies and tails are adjustable to different positions and of accurate scale. I love them!
The squirrel looked so real I wish I had ordered two. The squirrel was a gift and the gal loved it.
This little squirrel is incredibly lifelike…I cannot wait to surprise my granddaughter with it.
Gray squirrel is a big hit we had brunch with it after watching Disney new move about a trained squirrel with a little girl
So life-like and beautifully crafted.
I love decorating with natural looking things. I put the head of my squirrel going into the hole of a birdhouse. Looks great!
Beautifully made. As close to lifelike as you could possibly get. In fact, I sent it to my niece and she sent me back a picture of herself with the squirrel and in the picture it looked like a real live squirrel. Well done, Hansa.
My Daughter, a freshman in college, is obsessed with the campus squirrels. She loves it. One thing, the whiskers arrived bent and hopefully over time they will calm down. Great product! thanks
fell in love with this little guy at work where his "cousin" is the understudy in the Broadway play, "The Realistic Joneses" so ordered him for my own - so cute, so realistic, so perfect for me and the play
